GREY: for post herpetic neuralgia 

1. See neuropathic pain guideline
2. Patients initiated on lidocaine plasters should be reviewed 2-4 weeks after initiation and the on-going need assessed regularly and discontinued if ineffective.
3. Lidocaine plasters for all other indications should be reviewed and discontinued.

RED: for management of rib fractures following blunt force trauma for a maximum of five days treatment (Decision date May 2026)

DO NOT PRESCRIBE (DNP): for all other indications 

1. NHSE - drug of limited clinical value which should not be routinely prescribed in primary care
